Werewolf
Sunlight crept through the trees onto a collapsed wolf. Blood flowed out of the wounds on its body. A hunter peered over the creature. The silver barrel of their gun glinted dangerously in the light. Their grip tight on the trigger. They waited for the slightest tremor from the still body.
None ever came. Seemingly satisfied, the hunter left the wolf in its pitiful state.
Unfortunately they forgot to shoot with silver bullets. Just as they passed the tree line the forest grew quiet in anticipation. Something was coming.
The wolf began to move unnaturally.
All over massive lumps formed around its body. Each thrashing under the surface, desperately trying to be freed from their cage. The loud crack of bones snapping into place rang as they forcibly rearranged to their new positions.
The wolf’s fur retracted into sickly pale skin. Bony arms and legs formed in place of canine limbs. Followed by an unusual crooked jaw and hideous face. Slowly the wolf morphed into a human.
In a now human form, the bullet wounds seem to bleed more profusely. Unbothered by this it turned its body westward where the hunter left. The wild tint in its crimson eyes shone brighter.
It will return for the hunter’s heart.
